1. What Escape Shell is
Escape Shell is a browser-based UNIX terminal learning game. All commands run against a simulated filesystem inside your browser — nothing on your machine or any real server is ever executed. Escape Shell is not a security tool and must not be used for any real hacking, penetration testing, or unauthorised access.
2. Your account
An account needs a valid email, a username, and a password of at least eight characters. You must verify your email before your progress syncs to the server. You're responsible for keeping your credentials private — we'll never ask for your password by email.
You may play as a guest without registering. Guest progress is stored only in your browser's localStorage and disappears when you clear site data.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use Escape Shell to harass others, spam the leaderboard, attempt to reverse-engineer or attack the service, or register with someone else's email. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that do.
4. Content
Missions, graphics, code, and mechanics are © Escape Shell and licensed only for personal, non-commercial play. You may not redistribute or host the game elsewhere without permission.
5. Disclaimer
Escape Shell is provided “as is” for educational and entertainment purposes. No warranty is given that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service to the extent permitted by law.
6. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the landing page. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the new Terms.
